It’s carnival time in Rio for you

If there’s nothing more you love than a good old party, then the ultimate place to have a party has got to be the carnival in Rio.  Let’s be honest it’s got to be better than standing in your local park in the pouring rain, waving at people in ridiculous costumes.

The prize includes a trip to the Sambadrome to watch Brazil’s top samba schools battle it out, to see who will be the champions.  There’s also a sunset cruise of Guanabara Bay –that sounds idyllic to me.

You will also be able to climb the steps of Christ the Redeemer and experience the spectacular views, from the top of Sugarloaf Mountain.

Win tickets to the Edinburgh Festival this summer

I must admit to always wanting to go to the Edinburgh Festival, but have just never got round to it, so I think I will enter this comp myself and see what happens!

The prize is for the 11 – 12 August and includes vouchers for two tickets to a show of your choice for the first night (11th) which can be booked in advance.  And two tickets to see festival legend Jason Byrne on the second night (12th) which is always a sell-out – so it should be a really good laugh.

Much of the festival is free and performed on the streets around the city centre, so you will be able to see a bit of everything that’s going on.  Your prize also includes two nights’ accommodation at the city centre Rick’s Hotel.

Rick’s is a unique stylish Edinburgh city centre hotel – which has 10 rooms on three levels, quietly tucked away behind the bar and restaurant, in the New Town of Edinburgh – ideally situated for the festival.
